Shelagh Metselaar - Challenge 10

Shelagh Metselaar

I had fun searching through my Clarity collection and coming up with something different.  I have given it the title of 'I Have a Dream'; who is having the dream I wonder?  The lady, the cat, the blackbird?  I think my scene may have another purpose, however.

My Mum will attain the grand age of 87 just after New Year and I will be travelling down, whatever the weather, to spend a few days with her as she is now quite disabled.  In her youth, she was one of the first to wear the 'new look' in her home town and I think the elegant lady certainly harks back to that era.  With this in mind and a few additions, this will become her birthday card.

Shelagh Metselaar - Challenge 9

Shelagh Metselaar

Shelagh has had this idea since the theme was announced but it has evolved over the four weeks, not least due to the deliver of the heart stencil from the New Design Club.  This proved to be the required highlight to the letters from the alphabet stencil.

She used her stencil brushes, bought from the SECC, for the stencilling which she found were a revelation compared to those already in her stash.  Maria Simms gave her a top tip to clean them with a baby wipe which she has found ingenious and all that is necessary to clean away the colour.

In case it is only obvious to Shelagh herself she has included the explanation behind her Christmas hanging.

Lesley Walden - Challenge 9

Lesley Walden

Lesley has used several of her New Design Club stamps for her card.  The tree is made up of the Lupin stamp which took lots of masking to get the desired effect, but having finally got it finished she accidentally smudged the ink on the background so in true crafting style has cut it out and placed it on a red background.

The baubles were drawn on and glitter was added for the tinsel.  The star at the top was die cut using a button die.  The presents were stamped with Xmas Tree, Mistletoe Sprig, Celtic Square and Blocks of Fun and then cut to shape and placed under the tree.

To complete the card a card pen was used around the edge and a pre-printed sentiment added.

Margaret Rogers - Challenge 9

Margaret Rogers

Margaret made her card using the gelli plate and Adirondack inks to create the background.  The tree on the left was created by stamping and cutting out spruce and placing face down on top of the wet ink, then stamping the mistletoe and the snowflake from the miniature set.  A piece of card was then placed onto the gelli plate to get the impression.  The miniature Santa sleigh and sentiment were added using versafine ink, a little glitter using a gelly roll pen and liquid pearls in the centre of the snowflakes. The finishing touch was to use the mask of the tree on the right to complete the picture.
