  2. One of my favourite stencils and you've used it very creatively here in your picture' enhancing it beautifully with such an atmospheric background. Best wishes in the Clarity 'Masculine' challenge and thank for taking part. ;~}

  3. Dawn, this is amazing. I keep looking at it to try to work out how you did the background! Is it done on acetate with paint? Love it, and good luck x

    1. Hi Susan - it's a small canvas - I brayered the background, then dabbed white and gold acrylic paint through a moon mask I'd made from a sheet of acetate; the stag was then added using home-made texture paste and coloured with black soot distress ink. A litle silver gilding wax on antlers and hooves to add a little bling!
      So glad you like it.

    1. Thanks, Lesley - I started out by brayering red and blue acrylic paint onto the canvas, which gave me the purple background. Then I cut a circle in a sheet of acetate, to make a moon mask, and dabbed white and gold acrylic paint through this to add the moon (trying to follow the instructions in the New Design Club project using the Hare stencil). Next came the stag - I spread home-made texture paste through the stencil and, when it had dried, I coloured it with Black Soot distress ink - he didn't come out quite as black as I'd expected, so maybe a different type of ink would have been better. Finishing touches were some silver gilding wax on his antlers and hooves, and a die-cut strip of grass glued on at the bottom of the canvas.
      So glad you like it - thanks.
